The Natural Step Canada at Fresh Outlook Foundation's 2012 Building SustainAble Communities Conference (Kelowna, BC)
The Fresh Outlook Foundation is hosting its 5th Building SustainAble Communities conference February 27th to March 1st, 2012 at the Delta Grand Resort in Kelowna, BC, Canada.
The program--inspired by 75 industry experts on 11 planning committees--features a variety of plenaries, breakouts, panels, workshops, debates, and interactive sessions to provide opportunities for enhanced communication and collaboration.
The Natural Step Canada is excited to announce the following speakers at the conference:
- John Purkis, Senior Advisor & Senior Manager, Sustainable Communities at The Natural Step Canada
- Bob Willard, Member of The Natural Step Canada's Board of Directors and author of resources for sustainability champions
Day one’s Roll Call session explores delegates’ specific contributions to community sustainablity, and uses LEGO Serious Play to strengthen cross-sector awareness, dialogue, and problem-solving.
Day two features three streams: SustainAble Water Management, Social & Cultural SustainAbility, and a Learn Green. Earn Green! session for business people wanting to cash in on the move toward more sustainable business practices.
Day three, entitled Conversations That Count, features a variety of community sustainability topics including good governance, planning frameworks, public engagement, green buildings, transportation solutions, food security, sustainable economic development, and cross-sector collaboration.
Day four, focused on Leadership that Inspires, also features a variety of community sustainability topics, among them youth engagement, community design, zero waste, housing partnerships, cross-cultural collaboration, and successes in planning, agriculture, and GHG reduction.
