Ian Challenger

 Ian is a Sustainable Business Analyst for the Cawthron Institute in Nelson with over 20 years experience in environmental and sustainable management, his role at the Cawthron is to assist businesses to integrate sustainability into their organisational strategies.  Previously Ian work at the forefront of sustainable development, implementing Kaikoura’s zero waste strategy as manager of Innovative Waste Kaikoura and while with Kaikoura District Council, implemented a community wide environmental management system, which enabled Kaikoura to become New Zealand’s first Green Globe 21 community.  Between 1989 and 2001 Ian worked in the UK for the British charity, the BTCV, working to improve both the local environment and the people within it.  Ian is married with a son and 2 daughters.
