Call for Storytellers

The Natural Step Canada is looking for a storyteller for each of our upcoming Sustainability for Leaders Courses in Toronto, Banff, Montréal, Edmonton, and Vancouver.

Opportunity

The storyteller participates in the Level 1 or Level 2 course FREE OF CHARGE while networking with sustainability professionals in the host city and making a tangible connection with The Natural Step Canada.

NB: The Natural Step Canada unfortunately cannot cover the cost of meals outside the workshop, travel, or accomodations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who...

  • Is a student/youth.
  • Enjoys talking with people, is a natural storyteller, and has good interviewing skills.
  • Has strong local networks.
  • Experience in communications, media, photography, and videography an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the upcoming course through your local networks.
  • Be available during the course in question.
  • Take pictures throughout the course and send us the photo files. We're looking for 25-75 high quality photos including a variety of times–introductions, workshops, mingling, etc.
  • Interview 3‐5 highly engaged participants to get testimonials for the course
  • Ensure that participants in pictures/video sign a waiver giving us permission to use
    their material (with names, titles, organizations, e-mail, and phone number, so that we can follow up if necessary).
  • Write a short blog of the two‐day session.

Bonus Skills

If you have a video camera and video editing abilities:

  • If applicable, share examples of previous video projects you've worked on
  • Take short video clips of the course (including the introductory presentation, video of participants listening, working, etc.).
  • Take 3‐5 video interviews with participants sharing their reflections on the course, their next steps after the course, testimonials about their work, and sustainability (general questions)
  • Work with The Natural Step Canada's communications team to edit the video footage
