Through this exciting new tool advisers help clients to scan their current sustainability condition, then measure their progress through ongoing benchmarking and continual improvement. PROBE helps an organisation demonstrate the positive link between increased sustainability of its activities and tangible business benefits.
The Natural Step has collaborated closely with Comparison International, managers of the international PROBE™ Network, to develop PROBE for Sustainable Business. So far 51 advisors have been trained, including 25 members of the TNS teams in Sweden, Canada, France, Italy and USA, plus 36 others who are either established associates of TNS or who have been introduced to the Framework as part of this process. These individuals are now incorporating the tool into the services that they offer to businesses, helping their clients to get a powerful reality check and establish a baseline for their progress towards sustainability.
The range of organisations using PROBE for Sustainable Business to help identify, drive and manage their overall approach to sustainability is growing rapidly. These organisations include local governments/municipalities, multinational corporations, and commercial service providers such as airports. John Twigg, Group Planning Director, Manchester Airports Group (UK), is one of the latest to endorse the approach:
"We really appreciated the structured and rigorous assessment that PROBE provided. It helped us 'hold up a mirror' to our own performance and progress and deepened our awareness of the complex interplay between the economic, social and environmental effects of our business."
Interest from elsewhere in PROBE for Sustainable Business continues to gather momentum. As part of the global roll-out, Comparison International is presenting a series of one-hour webinars, to enable practitioners to find out more about this exciting development in applying the TNS framework in a practical, consistent and repeatable way. The webinars – scheduled for 26th & 27th of April 2010 – offer an opportunity to find out more about the PROBE™ process and the international PROBE™ Network that utilises the tools. They’ll also explain how to get involved, and give information about future training events.
"PROBE for Sustainable Business is an essential tool for both the sustainability practitioner and business adviser. I’ve found it extremely valuable in helping clients to contextualize what sustainability principles mean in practice. Its structured process is both simple and efficient, and with language that is business-friendly, it allows for easy interpretation of sustainability risk and opportunity. Furthermore, because the tool is underpinned by rigorous, tested methods in both performance benchmarking and sustainability planning, I think it is helping to redefine the true meaning of business excellence."
Richard Blume, Senior Adviser, The Natural Step International (Sweden).
Webinars are scheduled for 26th April 2010 at 08:00 & 14:00 BST (07:00/13:00 GMT), and 27th April 2010 at 22.00 BST (21.00 GMT), are limited to allow interaction and questions & answers.
