August 6, 2010. Duluth (MN) – Sustainable Twin Ports (STP) announces the hiring of Nan Stubenvoll as their new Executive Director. STP is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering economic, environmental and social sustainability in the Twin Ports and western Lake Superior region through education, networking and action. Current focus is on training of business leaders, municipalities, community groups, and individuals in the ‘principles’ of sustainability, using The Natural Step, a science-based, systems framework for making sustainable decisions in a strategic way.
Stubenvoll is replacing Tracy Meisterheim, who has been the Program Coordinator since 2008. Meisterheim is leaving to pursue a Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability at the Bleckinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, Sweden.
Stubenvoll, who returned to Duluth three years ago, has recently held project management positions at Hennepin County’s Department of Health and Human Services, the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC) and the Duluth Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC).
Current foundation support for the STP program includes the A.H. Zeppa Foundation, Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, and the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation.
An open reception will be held on Thursday, August 12, from 4:30 - 6 pm at the Zeitgeist Café.
