The Natural Step Transition :: Core Initiatives and Functions
Building on the programmes and initiatives we have today, proposed functions are as follows:
- The Alliance for Strategic Sustainable Development: to develop theory, methodology and practice for strategic sustainable development through interdisciplinary and intersectoral cooperation between scientists and businesses and public sector leaders with the overall goal of real systemic change in society.
- The Natural Step Academy: to create the means for individual and collective learning to accelerate progress toward sustainability; to make the framework as accessible and widely understood as possible around the world, set standards and promote continuous learning and collaboration around training.
- International Advisory Services: to coach and support role models for sustainability, test new approaches and share learning to build collective capacity and inspire change.
- Membership Services: to create and nurture a robust learning community around application of the Framework by facilitating connection of people, ideas and resources.
- Communications and Outreach: to enable clear communication about the Framework and opportunities for people to engage in the network in a simple way.
- Partnerships and Fundraising: to strategically position the network, make it visible and able to access high leverage organisations and institutions, and raise funding for network functions.
- Leadership and Governance: To provide transparent and accountable governance, ensure cohesion in the network through a clear and simple system that allows members to interact efficiently and know the terms of engagement in the network.
