Kristina Persson
Kristina Persson is the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sweden. Prior to her current role, she served for six years as the Governor of the County of Jämtland, three of which were also spent chairing the Committee for Investigation into the distribution of economic power and economic resources between men and women. She has been a member and alternate member of the Swedish Parliament and a member of the European Parliament.
Kristina’s career began at Mercedes Benz in Buenos Aires, Argentina and SA Volvo in Peru before she returned to Sweden to pursue work in politics. Other work in Sweden has included serving on the Central Organisation of Salaried and Professional Employees (TCO), the Nordic Trade Union Council (NFS), and the Council for Trade Union Assistance to developing countries, South Africa and South America.
Throughout her career, Kristina has been an active volunteer with multiple organizations. She is the founder of the Freja Foundation, a private organisation with the objective of promoting democracy, sustainable development and equal rights and opportunities between men and women. She created and co-led the Network for Europe, which campaigned across political boundaries in 1992-1994 to promote increased knowledge about the European Union and influence Swedish citizens to vote to join the EU in the 1994 referendum. Kristina is the creator and president of Global Challenge, President of The Nordic Association in Sweden, and member of a number of other boards and steering groups including The Mid University, African Wildlife Association and European Policy Center.
She holds a Master of Economics & Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics and completed future diplomat training at the Swedish Foreign Office.
