The Natural Step is committed to joining with others to help foster and nurture a diverse, open, inclusive and global community of change-makers whose thinking and practices are informed by the Framework For Strategic Sustainable Development (FSSD, also known as The Natural Step Framework).
Our vision for this community is that it provide a home (connection, support, shared knowledge, tools, materials and fun) for everyone thinking about, and seeking ways to work towards, a society that is sustainable, resilient and regenerative—one in which humans flourish brilliantly within the ‘design constraints’ imposed by the operating systems of our planet.
No single person or organization (including The Natural Step) will sit at the center of this community. Instead, together we place the world’s pressing need there, and join forces around it in our mission to shift society’s big systems towards functioning in ways that will create and support the new world that is imperative for a healthy future.
As of early 2013, the journey to knit together and grow this community has only just begun. In time, the community itself will articulate its own vision, and self-determine its own priorities, projects, governance and business model. We envision The Natural Step’s role in this as one of active membership, participation and collaboration.
