The Natural Step will be present at Globe Forum 2010.
The Next Step to Emerging Economies will present ideas from the Natural Step Network, an international nonprofit organization that helps integrate sustainability concepts into strategic planning. The network has trained well-known organizations including Nike, IKEA, Nissan, Starbucks, Dow Chemical, CH2M Hill and the City of Madison, Wisconsin.
This session will explore an attempted definition of social sustainability, currently being developed within The Real Change Research programme. It will outline the journey of MAX Restaurant in Sweden, which has very successfully implemented the FIRO Theory and the Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development in their organization.
The session is co-delivered by Dr Karl-Henrik Robèrt, Founder of The Natural Step and Pär Larshans, Head of HR and Sustainability at Max restaurants and is part of The Human Element European Update 2010 May, 12-15, in The Netherlands.

It is an intensive 2-day practical course designed to build understanding of how to transform your organization’s approach to sustainability in order to achieve strategic advantages and long-term leadership in your industry and/or community. Participants of this course will gain the knowledge and skills to understand, apply and communicate a compelling science based systems approach to sustainability, based on The Natural Step Framework. This course will focus in particular on the ability to present the core concepts of The Natural Step Framework with confidence.
BECCS stands for Bio Energy with Carbon Capture and Storage. It is an emerging technology that has the potential to go beyond traditional climate change mitigation, and instead actually achieve negative emissions, i.e. net removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The global potential for BECCS is estimated at billions of tons of carbon dioxide annually, with interesting opportunities in countries with large forestry and agricultural sectors, including sub-Saharan Africa.
