Twin Ports Early Adopter Project
How 14 organizations in Duluth, MN and Superior, WI trained an extended community to think differently about sustainability
The Early Adopter Project, led by Sustainable Twin Ports, guided 14 organizations in Duluth, MN and Superior, WI through a one-year pilot training in sustainability. Early outcomes reported by the participants include:
* Implementation of corporate-wide policies on sustainability
* 50% reduction in land-filled waste
* Reduction in electricity costs of $440 per month
* An approved municipal strategic plan for sustainable management of human and built environments
* A bi-national award for green business practices (US and Canada)
* Strategic movement toward 100% energy independence via installation of a biomass burner/generator
* New business/community partnerships, creating benefits for both
Join us in exploring the case studies of these organizations, as we look at their challenges, successes, barriers to action, and lessons learned. Project Coordinator Tracy Meisterheim will lead the discussion, with input from TNS-Canada trainers and participants from the Early Adopter Project.
