Second Intake – Commencement scheduled for September 2009.
The Natural Step and Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden are calling all professionals in the chemical industry. We invite you to join other industry leaders in the second intake for this exciting and innovating course for industry professionals.
In 2008 we graduated our first class of 25 industry champions, brought together from 14 different companies and seven countries across Europe. The next course is expected to run from late September 2009 and expressions of interest will be received until mid June 2009.

Background
In 2008, we piloted an intensive and innovative new distance learning course for professionals in the chemical industry. Designed in partnership by TNS Sweden and Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), with support from Hydro Polymers, Rohm and Haas and Chemson, the course built internal capacity across various organisations in the chemical industry to strategically address the business opportunities of sustainability and become role models for sustainable development. The idea for the course came from industry leader Hydro Polymers during the company’s efforts to develop more sustainable PVC products. As they worked to engage their supply chain, Hydro Polymers recognised that having more ‘change agents’ within different companies across the chemical industry would help support a broader movement toward sustainability.
The course kicked off in September 2007, with 25 participants from 14 different companies.

Combining the latest technology for distance learning with collaborative project work and in-person
workshops, it catered to the schedule of busy managers who were able to access most information on demand. Sustainability: Step by Natural Step eLearning course was used as an introductory module for participants to learn about the TNS Framework.
The first of three workshops took place at BTH in Karlskrona, Sweden. The in-person time allowed for personal interaction, networking and deeper exploration of the Framework, its application and the challenges that participants may face as change agents within their own organizations and allowed for much more meaningful interaction in subsequent webinars.
