Sustainability-driven Innovation: the Nike Experience, Canada
Sustainability-driven Innovation: the Nike Experience – with Lorrie Vogel, General Manager, Considered Products, Nike, September 22nd, 2009 1-3pm EST
As General Manager for Nike’s Considered team, Lorrie Vogel leads Nike’s efforts to introduce sustainable products and business models. Nike Considered began as a product line and has evolved into a company-wide design ethos - a commitment to bring Considered thinking to all Nike branded products. A Considered Index has been developed to rank all Nike footwear and apparel and help designers make smarter, more sustainable choices in product design.
Having worked with The Natural Step as early as 1998, Nike partnered with The Natural Step again in 2008 to help assess and further develop its approach to Considered product innovation by defining a long-term vision for sustainable Nike products. The resulting “North Star” vision and innovation goals provide Considered designers with a strong sense of the sustainable future toward which their innovation efforts should ultimately take the company.
Lorrie’s webinar will provide an overview of Nike’s sustainability-driven innovation efforts through Nike Considered, including the “backcasting” approach facilitated by the Considered North Star and Nike’s use of The Natural Step Framework.
