Bart Robinson

Person Canada Associate Bart Robinson

Bart Robinson is the Program Director of the Bow Valley Sustainability Hub in Canmore, Alberta. He was introduced to The Natural Step in 2002 when he was contracted to act as a program associate for The Natural Step to a Sustainable Canmore. That project, a two-year sustainability training program for the Town of Canmore and seven other Canmore businesses and organizations, was a convincing demonstration of The Natural Step’s effectiveness in helping individuals and organizations plan for, and begin to move towards, a more sustainable future. In his work with the program, Bart discovered it brought together three of his long-time passions – conservation, communications, and community engagement – and he has since continued to champion the Framework as a Natural Step Associate in communities in Alberta and B.C. In the past, Bart has worked as a journalist, editor, and communications consultant; as a conservationist; and as a business consultant. In 1982, he was a founding editor of Equinox: Canada’s Magazine of Discovery. From 1997 to 2003, he worked with the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, including four years as its Executive Director. From 1994 to 1996, he worked with Business Design Associates, a consulting company with Fortune 500 contracts in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.  More recently, he has been a Research Affiliate at Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and is co-authoring a book on large-scale conservation.
