Barbara Turley-McIntyre
Barbara Turley-McIntyre has been in the insurance industry for 29 years, starting her insurance career as an independent broker in Montreal in 1980. In 1997 she joined The Co-operators Group Limited, a $7 billion Canadian-owned, multi-product insurance company, where she has managed underwriting teams in property and casualty. She has also been responsible for community and shareholder relations.
Barbara was appointed the Director of Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship in 2007 where she leads the development and implementation of the Sustainability Vision, Policy and Strategy with responsibility for producing the annual Sustainability Report and carbon management programs. She leads The Co-operators community programs, including The Co-operators Foundation.
Barbara holds a Chartered Insurance Professional designation. She volunteers with organizations that advance sustainable development and is presently a Director with The Natural Step Canada and a member of the Sustainability Environment Committee of the Canadian Co-operative Association. She is also active with the United Nations Environment Program, Financial Institutions – Insurance Working Group. In addition, she sits on the boards of the City of Guelph Downtown Business Association and the MacDonald Stewart Art Centre at the University of Guelph.
