Alaya Boisvert brings a background in community development, communications and public engagement to her work with The Natural Step Canada. With ten years experience in diverse leadership positions in community, academic and corporate settings, Alaya has spent much of her career contributing to a movement for transformational change towards sustainability.
As an Advisory Intern for TNS she worked on projects with organizations that include Williams Lake, the Recycling Council of BC, Credit Valley Conservation, BC Hydro, Sioux Lookout, Corporate Knights and AIESEC. Born in Wilson Creek, British Columbia, Alaya recently graduated with a Masters of Science in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability at the Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden. Her co-authored thesis investigated how communities can identify and design indicators to measure and monitor the performance of their sustainability planning efforts.
Before studying in Sweden, Alaya was employed in the Marine Conservation Program at the David Suzuki Foundation where she spearheaded a successful public and corporate outreach campaign for a national sustainable seafood initiative. Her passion for human rights also led her to Guatemala where she worked with local indigenous leaders to start a community radio initiative.
